Hill Brothers was instrumental in the final phases of the parkway’s construction, in which several miles of parkway and seven bridges were constructed. This project represents the completion of the last 8.7 miles of the Natchez Trace Parkway from Liberty Road to US Route 61 in Adams County, MS, just North of the city of Natchez. The 4.3 mile section of the Natchez Trace Parkway from Liberty Road to the new US Route 84/98 was new construction consisting of clearing and grubbing, grading, drainage, base, asphalt surfacing, and construction of seven bridges while protecting and enhancing the natural environment. This section also included approximately 1.4 miles of adjacent county road relocation. The 4.4 mile section of the Parkway from the new US Route 84/98 to US Route 61 had been previously constructed and surface treated. The work under this contract included asphalt surfacing, shoulder work, signing, striping, construction of the Elizabeth Female Academy parking area, and other miscellaneous roadside cleanup and minor slope stabilization.
