Prentiss County New State Route 30

This contract includes grading, drainage, bridge construction and paving to construct the new SR 30 from US Hwy 45 to the existing SR 30 in Prentiss County. This project began construction on November 2, 2009 and is scheduled for completion on May 1, 2011. It is a fast pace project consisting of 8.5 miles of roadway of which 7.5 miles of the two lane roadway was constructed under a previous contract. The 7.5 mile section includes raising the sub-grade 7 inches, lime treatment of sub-grade; the placement of 6 inches of crushed stone, 8 inches asphalt and 17,000 ft curb and gutter. The project also includes constructing a 2-way loop ramp at Highway 4 and the tie-in of Hwy 364 from Old Hwy 30 to the new Hwy 30.

One mile of the project consists of clearing and grubbing, drainage, two box culverts and setting twin bridges over Hwy 45 four-lane. One half of the clearing was in marsh-like conditions which required numerous sections to be undercut up to 4 ft in depth. HBCC will construct loops at Hwy 145 and construct ramps and a loop at Hwy 45. This one mile section also includes lime treatment of subgrade, placement of 6 inches crushed stone, 8 inches asphalt and 4,000 ft curb and gutter.

Major items of work include: 105,097 cy unclassified excavation; 295,951 cy borrow excavation; 79,650 cy crushed stone; 95,000 tons asphalt; and 21,000 ft curb and gutter.
