Message from the CEO
Spring is here once again, and even with an unusually rainy few months, we have been able to get in a lot of good workdays so far. Of course in places like Greenville where the rising water levels in the Mississippi River are causing flooding, it restricts our access and causes delays, but we have done our best to overcome those obstacles.
On the subject of safety, I feel that everyone is doing a great job with our safety program this year, we do have some new strategies in place to try to be more pro-active in preventing incidents, and promoting and rewarding good behavior. I can’t stress enough how important safety is to the entire company, not just each job site or each individual. Our track record of safety is very important to us when we pursue new work, and when we succeed as a company, everyone benefits from that success. Thanks to everyone who has made safety a primary focus each time you step onto your project site. Safety really does pay!
I am also proud to announce that a revised Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Manual is presently under review and will be available to the jobsites in a few weeks. Please take time to become familiar with any policies or procedures that you may have questions or concerns about. Thank you to everyone who assisted in returning the older versions to the Falkner Office.
As a final note, I would like to personally extend my best wishes to those in our company who have recently faced health issues, as well as my sympathy to those who have lost someone dear to them. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
To everyone else, keep up the good work!

Sincerely,

Kenneth W. Hill, Jr.
CEO

Greenville Project Sees 100 Days Accident Free
Safety Pays
When the corporate safety team comes rolling into town, it doesn’t always mean someone is in trouble for breaking the rules; in fact, it often means that someone is being rewarded for keeping the rules! That was the case on March 5th when the entire Greenville, Mississippi project received recognition for going 100 + straight days with no accidents.
Safety Pays
Benton Elliott, Corporate Safety & Risk Manager, gave away 6 caps, 1 travel/duffel bag, 11 t-shirts, 8 Case® pocket knives, and hardhat stickers with “100 Days Accident Free” for everyone. A lunch of catfish with all the fixings was provided for everyone present.
Also on hand to congratulate the workers and management for their accomplishment were Gerald Hill, Jody Hill and David Horton
Employee of the Month / Core Values Champion

To Everyone At Hill Brothers:

A good friend and a fellow employee came by yesterday to pick up his tools out of his service truck. His health has gotten to the point that he can no longer perform his duties. After surgery he is just not able to continue with the day-to-day duties at Hill Bros.
I would like to go back in time about 35 to 40 years when we were both a lot younger and worked for another company, along with another current employee. This man could do more work then than most any other two I had ever seen, so when I left to go to another place of employment and needed help, you can bet that I drew on those that I knew could do the work, so I took both of them with me.
In 1978 when Hill Brothers was formed they both decided that it was time to move on and up. It seems strange that some 30 years or so I would catch up with these two guys on the same job at Hill Brothers.
This now former employee is one that everyone that has been with Hill Brothers for any length of time knows -- James Dunnam. Ah heck, nobody knows James Dunnam, but I’ll bet there is not an employee that has been here for 5 years that doesn't know “Pete” Dunnam and Terry “Clydesdale” Akins.
I would just like to say that in my working career there is no finer men to work with and it is just a pleasure to say so. -- Good Luck Pete.
