To All Hill Brothers’ Employees:
As you all know, Hill Brothers acquires the majority of its projects through a bidding process and/or by submitting proposals. Normally, we find these bids by various advertisements throughout our work areas. However, bid opportunities are also listed throughout your local newspapers, usually the Legal/Classified ads. These are additional work opportunities that HBCC is currently missing out on.
We at Hill Brothers would like to improve this. Starting now, if we receive specific information from an employee on a “New” bid opportunity, HBCC will be willing to offer a Finder’s Fee. (This excludes a project that is currently being tracked, DOT and USACE projects provided by websites). We are presently seeking work in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Texas and Florida and will prefer bids that include the following:
If you should see an advertisement or Bid Notice that includes these types of work while reading your local newspaper, please send an email to dannymac@hbconst.com or becky@hbconst.com. Please include your contact information including name, phone number and/or email along with the bid advertisement information such as Project Name, Owner, Location, Bid Date, Contact Numbers, Engineering Firm, Email Addresses, Description of Work, etc. Once the project information you provide is reviewed and it is determined that the project is not on our current tracking list, is the type work described above and may be considered for bid, you will then be notified regarding the $100 Finder’s Fee!
“If you want work well done, select a busy man - the other kind has no time." Elbert Hubbard
Time is one of our most important resources. Most of us have a never-ending list of things that we could do if we had the time. It isn’t just about focusing on deadlines and to-do lists, it’s more about looking for ways to maximize the return on the time you have.
For example - If you work eight hours a day, five days a week, for 50 weeks a year, then you have 2,000 hours a year to allocate to accomplishing various jobs. Think of this in the same way as if you had $2,000 for supplies in your budget, or 2,000 gallons of gasoline that you could use in a year. To make this even more difficult, is if you found you haven’t used your time wisely, there’s no begging more resources from the boss, or buying more – when it’s used, it’s gone, regardless of how well you earmarked it. This is why it helps to think of time as a valuable economic resource that needs to be spent wisely and the idea of not wasting it becomes more meaningful.
Speaking of good time management, we’re almost finished with the annual EEO training. We’ve accomplished this because Project Managers and Supervisors have taken advantage of bad weather days to finish this mandatory training and without stopping production.
Special thanks to Chuy Delgado, Carlos Diaz, Juan Martinez, Francisco Avino for helping with EEO trainings by translating EEO policies for our Spanish speaking employees. Good Work!

As we are quickly approaching the 5th month of the year and reflecting on January, February, March, and April we have had a pretty good year so far. However, we can never let ourselves become complacent in our efforts to maintain the “Safest” jobsite possible.
I want to encourage everyone to stop and think about the impact an injury would have on each of us: Lost morale, lost production, medical costs, possible OSHA fines, insurance costs, etc…etc. All of these have great consequences for both the individual and the Company. No task should be overlooked, especially being safe!
As a final thought, remember, “Always be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to what you are doing. Demand your co-workers to be equally as SAFE as you because they could be the ones that injure you!”

We would like to nominate Mrs. Bettye Hill for the May/June Employee of the Month/Core Values Champion. Mrs. Bettye has been with Hill Brothers for 30 years. She is a woman that has worn many hats, has had many titles and many responsibilities, but she never complains. She is hard-working and dedicated to the work. She goes above and beyond her expected task and is very knowledgeable in all areas of our scope of work. If required, she has been willing to relocate to wherever the job calls. She has been a Mother to many employees. She has a smile and “Hello” for everyone each day, unless you get on her bad side. If you have ever been fortunate enough to meet Bettye you would never forget her and would have a favorable lasting impression of her.
